Practice Manager

 

Maureen Riley is our practice manager and she is responsible for the administration of the practice. She would be happy to hear your views and suggestions about the service offered by the practice.  If you wish to leave any comments or suggestions electronically about our service, the Surgery, or this web-site, click here. Administrative Staff


All our staff are here to help you, and will do so to the best of their ability. We expect them to treat you with respect and courtesy at all times, and we ask you to be polite and courteous in return.

 

Primary Health Care Team

 

The practice is supported by staff employed by the PCT to work within the practice and/or the local community.

These include:

District Nurses

Our District Nurses provide nursing care for temporarily or permanently housebound patients. They also offer a leg-ulcer clinic within the practice.

  • Contact: 01524 732193 (Mon - Fri) or 01524 405722 (evenings, weekends and bank holidays to ‘page’ the District Nurse on call).

Health  Visitors

Our Health Visitors offer a wide range of help, advice and support for parents with young children, and also the elderly. They offer a drop-in clinic at the Carnforth Clinic for you to discuss child health problems.

 

Midwives

Our Midwives work closely with your doctor to offer regular monitoring, help and advice throughout pregnancy and during the first few weeks after birth. If you are pregnant, please let your doctor know, so that you can be referred for ante-natal care. You will have a named midwife who will provide your ante-natal and post-natal care in line with NICE guidelines. You will also be seen at the hospital clinic from time to time. The midwives work in the hospital delivery suite as well as in the community, and can advise on home confinements.

 

Community Psychiatric Nurses

The Community Mental Health Team specialises in dealing with mental illness. This service, based at St Leonardsgate, is available through your GP or out-patient clinic.

Primary Care Graduate Mental Health Worker

Seeing the Primary Care Graduate Mental Health Worker can treat depression, anxiety and stress- related disorders. Your GP will refer you if required. Your appointment will take place at Ashtrees Surgery

 

Smoking Cessation

Mainly provided by North West Lancashire Smoking Cessation Service, run by Peter Preston at Slyne Road. The team can provide face to face consultations for potential quitters and will liase with your GP if medication is required to try and help you stop. Your GP/ nurse can also provide you with the education and support to help you stop smoking.
