Nurse Practitioners

The surgery offers the choice of seeing our Nurse Practitioners or the Doctor and we hope that this will help ease the increasing workload in primary health care and make access quicker and easier for our patients.

Shirley Chambers

Shirley is a highly qualified and experienced practice nurse who has undertaken 3 years extra training attaining a BSc(Hons) Nurse Practitioner degree. Combined with her Royal College of Nursing Nurse Practitioner Diploma, and her independent prescribing qualification, she is able to consult with many patients without GP involvement. She has the expertise to be able to examine, diagnose and treat many ailments and to be able to recognise when she needs to refer on to a doctor or other health professional. Very often, patients are aware themselves of the sort of problems that can be dealt with by a specially trained nurse and these may include children's illnesses, ladies' problems, chest and ear infections as well as Shirley's specialist area of interest, Asthma care.
