Dispensary

Telephone 01524 735111

The dispensary is situated in the main surgery. It is open 8.00am - 12 noon and 1.00pm - 6.00 pm Monday - Friday. If you live more than 1 mile from a community pharmacy, you will be able to have both your acute and repeat medications made up for you here and dispensed by us. You will register as a dispensing patient when you first join the practice. If you think you are eligible to be a dispensing patient but are not registered, then please enquire at the reception desk. Dispensing patients include people living in Warton, Yealand Conyers, Yealand Redmayne, Over Kellet, Nether Kellet & Halton.

The dispensary is managed by our clinical pharmacist Jeff Chambers BSc MSc MRpharmS. Jeff is a very experienced community pharmacist and is able to give you advice regarding medication related issues and minor ailments. Direct contact can be made with the pharmacist by telephone between 9.00am and 5.00pm, from Monday to Friday. He is also an independent prescriber, being one of the first Pharmacists in the country to gain this qualification at Keele University and as such is trained to prescribe medications for you. You may also be offered an appointment to see him for medication reviews and for advice on certain clinical conditions. Our dispensing technicians Tricia, Lindsay & Dawn are fully trained including to NVQ2 & 3 level and they are responsible for making up your medications.

Repeat Prescriptions

Patients receiving regular medication may be given a computerised repeat prescription. Please give 48 hours notice to allow time to process and check your prescription. We prefer you to hand in your computer counterfoil at whichever surgery you use, or to the dispensary if you are registered at Ashtrees. Telephone requests are taken on the dispensary number between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm. Alternatively, you may send in your request along with a SAE and your completed prescription will be returned to you. You can also order your repeat prescription by phone or on-line.
